Mistake Mastery

The questions your child gets wrong are the ones worth keeping.

Mistake Mastery turns a photo of a wrong answer into a personal mistake book — explained, then brought back days later, when bringing it back is what makes it stick.

Invitation only while we're in pilot. We're working with a small number of families so we can answer every email properly. Ask for an invitation.

How it works

  1. Photograph the question they got wrong. A worksheet, a past paper, a screenshot. It's read into text, diagrams and all, and your child confirms it looks right.
  2. They find out why it was wrong. A step-by-step explanation written for their year level, plus the idea underneath it — not just the answer.
  3. It comes back. Similar questions, with different numbers and a different situation, on a spaced schedule. A question you answer correctly a month later is one you actually know.

Why a mistake book

Marks are usually lost in clusters, not at random — the same kind of question, again and again. A mistake book makes that pattern visible, which is the whole reason teachers have asked students to keep one by hand for generations. The hard part was always the keeping.

Re-reading a correction rarely fixes it. Being asked the same thing again, later, from cold, is what moves it into memory — so that is what the app does with each question your child adds.

It is deliberately not an answer machine. Nothing here helps a student get tonight's homework finished faster. It is for the questions they already got wrong.

Who it's for

Primary and high school students in Australia, including families preparing for Opportunity Class and Selective High School placement, ICAS, AMC and NAPLAN. Maths, thinking skills, general ability, and reading comprehension.

Mistake Mastery is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NSW Department of Education, ACARA, Janison, or the Australian Maths Trust.

Price

Free during the pilot

After that, $19.99 a month — or $179 a year — for one family, up to three children. Families who join the pilot keep a founding rate of $12.99 a month for as long as they stay subscribed.

If a subscription ends, the mistake book stays readable. New questions and new practice stop; nothing your child has already collected is taken away.

Your child's data

Accounts are held by a parent. Photos and questions are stored in Australia, are never shown to other families, and are never sold or used for advertising. You can delete the account and everything in it yourself, at any time, from the menu inside the app — permanently, without asking us.
